AWSM Welcomed Christine Mina to Share her Position with The Philadelphia Flyers
Written by Melanie Thalhimer
Christine Mina is the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Comcast Spectator and the
Philadelphia Flyers. She began her career in sports marketing after interning with the Pittsburgh
Penguins as a Media Relations and Communication Assistant Intern after graduating from
University of Pittsburgh in 2013.
Mina originally desired to work in the public relations field, however after receiving an internship
with the Pittsburgh Penguins to assist in media relations, Mina made the career switch to sports
marketing.
Mina describes her journey on switching into sports marketing by stating, “I happened to be
very lucky in that right place right time ...I was really helping out with the Penguins in their digital
presence pretty early on.”
Just a month after her internship ended, Mina began working for the Philadelphia Flyers as a
Digital media specialist. Mina was hired onto a new department, therefore got to work on the
Flyers digital presence from the ground up.
“At the time I was running their website, I was doing their social media, I was making all of our
graphics, I was editing videos, and I was the only person on staff to do all those things,” said
Mina.
Mina continued her career at the Flyers as she moved her way up through several media
positions. In early 2024, Mina was named Senior Vice President of Marketing after being with
the company for 10 years.
Mina currently oversees five branches of marketing within the company and enjoys the
fast-paced lifestyle of working for a NHL team. Her biggest piece of advice for women who want
to work in sports is to “put yourself out there, ask questions, and figure out how your desired
role fits into sports business.”
